BOARD OF CITY COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS
SPECIAL CALLED SESSION
February 9, 2010 AT 6:30 P.M.
The Board of City Commissioners of the City of Shawnee, County of Pottawatomie, State of Oklahoma, met in Special Called Session in the Shawnee Community Center, 804 S. Park, Shawnee, Oklahoma, Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at 6:30 p.m., pursuant to notice duly posted as prescribed by law. Mayor Peterson presided and called the meeting to order. Upon roll call, the following members were in attendance.

Others in attendance were city staff, City Manager Brian McDougal, City Clerk Phyllis Loftis, City Attorney John Canavan, and Community Development Director Justin Erickson.
The Call for said meeting was entered upon the records by the City Clerk, said Call being as follows:
NOTICE OF A CALLED SPECIAL SESSION OF THE BOARD OF CITY COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF SHAWNEE, OKLAHOMA
TO THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF SHAWNEE, OKLAHOMA:
You and each of you are hereby notified that by virtue of a call issued by me on this 1st day of February, 2010, a Special Called Session will be held of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Shawnee, Oklahoma in the Shawnee Community Center, 804 South Park, Shawnee, Oklahoma at 6:30 p.m. on February 9, 2010, and you are hereby notified to be present at said meeting.
The purpose of said meeting will be to convene a Public Hearing for discussion of the solid waste disposal contract.

CALL FOR SPECIAL SESSION OF THE SHAWNEE BOARD OF CITY COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF SHAWNEE, OKLAHOMA TO BE HELD ON THE 9TH DAY OF FEBRUARY, 2010 AT 6:30 O’CLOCK P.M. AT THE SHAWNEE COMMUNITY CENTER, 804 SOUTH PARK, SHAWNEE, OKLAHOMA. THE PURPOSE OF SAID MEETING WILL BE TO CONVENE A PUBLIC HEARING FOR DISCUSSION OF THE SOLID WASTE DISPOSAL CONTRACT.
By virtue of the authority vested in me by Section 4, Article IV of the Charter of the City of Shawnee, Oklahoma, a Special Session of the Board of City Commissioners of the City of Shawnee, Oklahoma is hereby called to meet at the Shawnee Community Center, 804 South Park, Shawnee, Oklahoma at 6:30 p.m. on February 9, 2010, to convene a Public Hearing for discussion of the solid waste disposal contract.

CALL TO ORDER: Roll Call (6:30 p.m.)
DECLARATION OF A QUORUM: Roll was called with all Commissioners were present and a quorum was declared.
AGENDA ITEM NO. 1: Convene Public Hearing for discussion of solid waste disposal contract.
Moderator Ronnye Perry Sharp welcomed guest to the meeting. Vice Mayor Pam Stephens spoke to those in attendance explaining that the purpose of the meeting was to help staff and the Commission know what aspects of this contract are important to them, and ultimately, what they would be willing to pay for.
Ms. Sharp opened the hearing up for public comments. The following persons spoke regarding recycling and sustainability issues: Cody Deem, Shawna Turner and Rosemary Crawford. Other persons speaking were Warren Rutherford and Jo Davis.
AGENDA ITEM NO. 4: Adjournment
There being no further business to come before the meeting, a motion was made by Commissioner Sims, seconded by Commissioner Holt, that the meeting be adjourned. Motion carried 7-0. (7:13 p.m.)
